Forced Fixing (3-D Part HCM)

3-D Standard > HCM > Fix > Forced fixing

The Fix/Unfix function only prevents transformations of parts when trying to drag them. With other functions, such as Transform > Move part, via 2 points, however, the part can still be transformed.

To prevent such transformations effectively, you can use the positional constraint Forced fixing. It basically works in the same way like the normal Fix/Unfix function, with the difference that it also prevents transformations of a part with the help of other functions. The forced fixing refers only to one part within an assembly, i.e. the transformation of the complete assembly will still be possible; only the transformation of the individual part to which the forced fixing was applied will be prevented.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Click on Forced fixing.
  2. Identify the geometry element to be fixed.
  3. If you have identified a geometry that has already been fixed, you are asked whether yo would like to remove the fixing. Otherwise, the part will be fixed.
  4. To remove the fixing, choose the same function again, identify the geometry, and answer the security prompt with Yes.

If you later attempt to transform a force-fixed part, the following message will be displayed:

If you click on Yes, the forced fixing will be removed and the part will be transformed. If you click on No the transformation will not be executed and the forced fixing remains.
