Orientation (HCM 3-D)

3-D Standard > HCM > Tools > Orientation

The Orientation is always a supplement to an existing constraint. For example, it can be specified as a supplement to a Coincidence or Parallelism constraint.

When assigning a Parallelism constraint between two lines, you can specify whether the lines in question are to run in the same direction or in opposite directions:

  1. You first need to define a constraint which allows a specification of orientation. The default setting for orientation is always "unimportant".
  2. Highlight the constraint in the ICN. Use the right mouse button to open the context menu.
  3. Choose the Change orientation function. The Orientation window appears. The temporary setting is highlighted in blue.
  4. Choose between the three options. If you choose the "Unimportant" setting, the current state is preserved until such time as a further constraint makes it necessary to change the orientation.

As a line does not allow the direction to be directly identified, HiCAD displays the current position of the two geometries in relation to one another when assigning an orientation constraint.
