Version Management

When you use the Create index function to generate new indices of an article or document, a corresponding list of indices will be created.

Documents with an older index which are no longer shown in the objects list can be edited with the Show Version Management function.

For example, if an article or a document only exists with index "2" (or "b") in the list, but you want to copy and derive the older index "1" (or "a"), you can use this function to load this older index of the article or document with this function.

Proceed as follows:

Right-click a result list item or an item in a detail mask and select Show Version Management. The Version Management window for the selected article or document will be displayed.

Double-click the desired index. This opens a detail window showing the data of the old index, with limited editing options.

Here, too, the HELiOS Desktop allows a window-comprehensive working. If you want to view a different index, call the Version Management function again to select a different index. The detail window will then be updated.

You have the option to create a Derivation of the old index. proceed as follows:

  1. Right-click and select Create derivation in the context menu.
  2. After completing the mask, save the entered data with OK.

Please note:

If you delete the article or document with the current index, the one with the next higher index will be activated automatically.

The Version Management window display can be configured if desired, in the same way as result lists.

The result list attribute Index up-to-dateness ("UI_DocumentNewerIndex" for Documents, "UI_ArticleNewerIndex" for Articles) can be used to clearly indicate newer revision indices of shown objects: If an Article or a Document has a newer index, older indices will be indicated in the Index up-to-dateness with a star symbol.

A simple click on the star in the result list opens the Version Management for the corresponding object, a double-click will additionally open the Document / Article detail mask.

Right-clicking the title of the Index up-to-dateness opens a context menu. The menu item Strategy allows you to choose between three different additional display options:
