Tab: Weight Calculation (3-D SE)

You can specify the precision of the weight calculation for beams and plates in steel engineering construction on the Weight calculation tab.

The settings are stored in the file STB_Parameter.DAT (SYS directory) and can also be edited there. This file also allows you to configure whether you want metal plate waste to be taken into account in weight calculation, and if so, how many square meters the surface has to be before it is subtracted from the total surface.

• Weight calculation for beams

• DIN weight; avoirdupois weight
  The DIN standard weight or the commercial weight and the length of the beam are taken into account in this - somewhat imprecise - type of weight calculation. Cut-outs are however disregarded.
• Exact volume x density
  Here, all cut-outs in the beam are also considered. Computation can be very time-consuming, particularly for larger constructions.

• Weight calculation for plates

• Length x width x thickness
  Here, the volume is simply determined from the outer dimensions.

• Exact volume x thickness
  All cut-outs in the plate are also taken into account in this calculation. The computation can be very time-consuming, particularly for larger constructions.
• Default material
  Here, you can specify the default material. Select the required material from the list box.

Clicking OK applies the settings of all tabs and ends the function.

Please note:

• If desired, you can take bend and roll radii of standard beams in simplified representation into account as allowance for exact weight calculation. This can be done via the corresponding setting option in the STB_Parameter.DAT file in the HiCAD SYS directory:

Default setting is1 (yes, take into account). If you do not want the taking into account of the allowance, you need to set the value to 0.

• Changes in STB_Parameter.DAT do not take effect until you restart HiCAD.
