Steel Engineering Management Using HELiOS
If you are using the PDM system HELiOS to manage your steel engineering
constructions, assemblies and parts, you should pay special attention
to the following notes.
- Steel engineering
parts in HELiOS behave like "normal" mechanical engineering production parts.
HELiOS does not have special IDs or settings for them.
- For each different
production part, a unique part master is generated in HELiOS and assigned to the part and its
identical parts. The Identical Part Search/Itemisation
function carries this out automatically for all newly itemised or calculated
parts, and it applies to both 3-D parts with BOM-relevance and steel
engineering parts. It requires the steel engineering options for itemising
to be set accordingly.
- If an individual
part drawing (detail drawing) exists, it will have a document master linked to the master
part, which is automatically generated/updated in the Steel Engineering detail drawing function.
- If an individual
part is detailed on an assembly drawing, its part master is linked
to the document master of the assembly drawing via the HELiOS link Parts(s) drawing. The Workshop drawing function automatically
creates this link.
- If an assembly
is involved, HELiOS will have a product structure for it. The Itemisation
function automatically transfers/updates this structure to the entire
drawing, including all sub-assemblies. It requires the steel
engineering options for itemisation to be set accordingly.
Before using the HELiOS HiCAD BIM-PLM suite, it is important that you read the information given in the HELiOS > HELiOS HiCAD BIM-PDM chapter! To use this suite, activate the PDM tab, that has been especially designed to match the requirements of civil engineering. Besides BIM/PLM functions, this tab provides functions for itemisation, workshop drawing generation, BOM generation etc. Furthermore, you can automatically configure HiCAD title blocks, drawing frames, BOM templates and HELiOS masks for BIM-PLM-specific tasks.
