P+ID Library > Symbol > Edit symbol
The way in which this function works, depends on whether:
In this case the right toolbar changes to show library symbol processing options and selected 2-D functions.
In this case you can use the Edit library symbol function to edit a symbol without leaving the library.
To select the symbol to be processed, proceed as follows:
The symbol is then loaded in the Symbol Editor for processing. The symbol can be handled as described for the Load library symbol function, but in this case the symbol library associated with the symbol is active in the background.
When you now invoke the Save library symbol function, the symbol is saved to the symbol library in the background.
When you invoke the Edit library, HiCAD asks:
Save active symbol?
Select Cancel to exit the function. If you respond with No any changes to the symbol are lost. The active symbol library reappears on your screen and can be further processed. If you respond with Yes, the symbol is saved to the active library. HiCAD then redisplays the active symbol library on your screen for further processing.
In this case you can use the Edit library symbol function to fetch an P+ID symbol from the P+ID sheet. It is then taken over by the Symbol Editor and can be handled in the way described for the Load library symbol function, but in this case the symbol is taken over in the form in which it appeared in the R&I-Schema, i.e. any changes made to the symbol in the P+ID are taken over.
If you had previously worked on the sheet, HiCAD asks whether you want to save it. The sheet is automatically removed from your screen, but the project remains active. The symbol is passed to the Symbol Editor, and a dialogue box enabling you to process the symbol data mask appears on your screen. The content of the symbol data mask is identical to that of the data mask belonging to the library symbol from which the symbol was derived.
