Fix/Unfix (HCM 3-D)

3-D Standard > HCM > Fix

The function for the fixing (and subsequent unfixing) of a part can be found in the HCM function group of the 3-D Standard tab.

Proceed as follows:

1. Click the Fix (Fix/Unfix sub-part) icon.
2. Identify the geometry element to be fixed.
3. If you have identified a geometry that has already been fixed, you are asked whether yo would like to remove the fixing.
4. To remove the fixing, choose the same function again, identify the geometry, and answer the security prompt with Yes.

Please note:

• If a geometry is fixed, it will not be moved in necessary transformations. Note, however, that a geometry may have internal degrees of freedom and is regarded as unbounded. For example, a fixed cylinder can rotate about its own axis and also be moved along this axis. To fix a geometry so that no movement at all is possible, use the Fix geometry function.
• If you right-click Fix/Unfix geometry , the extended context menu also provides the Fix/Unfix sub-part function.
• In addition to being able to fix individual geometry elements, you can also fix an entire part, including its sub-parts.
