3-D Metal Engineering Grid (Metal Engineering)

Metal Engineering > Grid

You will find the Metal Engineering grid functions in the Grid function group of the Metal Engineering tab:

Function

Description

Creates a new assembly for Metal Engineering constructions created via grids.

These functions enable you to place mullions (=vertical beams)in the Metal Engineering grid. A detailed description of the procedure is provided in the chapter Working with the 3-D Metal Engineering grid.

These functions enable you to place transoms (=horizontal beams) in the Metal Engineering grid. A detailed description of the procedure is provided in the chapter Working with the 3-D Metal Engineering grid.

Clicking below the Assy. function opens a pull-down menu with further functions:

Grid assembly

Displays the Metal Construction Plugin, that enables you to create grids from pre-defined templates. You can choose between a Ridge roof and a Polygon facade. Specify in the Plugin window the positional and dimensional parameters, number of mullions, transoms, facade segments etc.

Glass

Opens a dialogue window for the fitting of HiCAD glass panes into the construction created via the Metal Engineering grid.

Use this function to fit glass panes via the LogiKal selection dialogue.

Grid connections

Via HiCAD Design Variant Applies notches to the beams/profiles of the facade via a HiCAD Design Variant.

Applies notches to the beams/profiles of the facade via the functionality of the LogiKal interface.

If you call this function, HiCAD trims the inserted beams/profiles in the grid construction to their required length.

Call this function to automatically apply mitre cuts to connections where required.

Individual cut-outs need to be available in the catalogue for the appropriate figures.
