New Sheet from Solid (3-D SM)

Sheet Metal > New > From solid

The From solid function enables you to construct a sheet from a 3-D part. The 3-D part needs to have a uniform thickness acceptable for sheets.

  1. Mark the 3-D part in the ICN before calling the function.

The Sheet from solid window appears.

  1. The Delete original part function deletes the 3-D part as soon as the sheet has been constructed from it. The entry of the 3-D part is also deleted in the ICN.
  2. Choose Clean up corners to automatically process corners from the 3-D solid so that the sheet parts abut one another cleanly. You can use the Cut out corner function to achieve the same effect.
  3. Activate the Referenced checkbox if you want the part to be saved as a referenced part (see HiCAD 3-D).

A frequently used part should be saved in referenced mode. The part is then additionally saved as an individual part at the end of the function process flow and not closely integrated into the drawing. If you change the individual part, you can update the part in the drawing.

To switch off feature logging during creation of this base sheet, activate the corresponding checkbox . By default, Feature Technology is active.

The name of the sheet is generated automatically. You can overwrite it in the text field.

  1. Click OK to execute the function.

The sheet is constructed according to the entries made and created as a base sheet. Analytical section curves are automatically approximated.
