Sketch > Process > Trim... > Others > Section
Use these functions to trim a composite edge to other elements in the drawing, thereby creating additional division points.
Sketch > Process > Trim... > Others > Section, Global

Trim Deletes the segment of a graphical element up to the closest intersection point with another graphical element. Intersection points of lines, circular arcs and circles are permitted. Identify the graphical element. Depending on the cursor position, HiCAD searches for the closest intersection points of the identified element with other graphical elements and deletes the corresponding section. |

With 2nd edge Inserts the intersecting points with another composite edge as new division points. Identify both composite edges. |
![]() |
With 3-D edge Inserts the intersecting points with a 3-D edge as new division points. Identify the composite edge and a 3-D edge. |
![]() |
With infinite line Inserts the intersecting points with an infinite line as new division points. Identify the composite edge and define the line by specifying two points. |
![]() |
With finite line Inserts the intersecting points with a finite line as new division points. Identify the composite edge and define the line by specifying two points.
o = new division point Left: Intersection with c-edge, Middle: Intersection with edge, Right: Intersection with line |
All functions use the settings selected with the Section,
Default setting function!
Sketch > Process > Trim... > Others > Section, In screen plane
In general, this function works largely in the same way as the Section, Global function. The difference is that sectioning takes place here in the screen plane of the current view. This also enables intersection points to be found which cannot be determined with the Section, Global function because, say, the composite edge and the cutting element lie askew to each other
The following functions are available:
|
With 2nd edge Inserts the intersecting points with another composite edge as new division points. Identify both composite edges. |
|
With 3-D edge Inserts the intersecting points with a 3-D edge as new division points. Identify the composite edge and a 3-D edge. |
|
With infinite line Inserts the intersecting points with an infinite line as new division points. Identify the composite edge and define the line by specifying two points. |
|
With finite line Inserts the intersecting points with a finite line as new division points. Identify the composite edge and define the line by specifying two points.
o = new division point Left: Intersection with c-edge, Middle: Intersection with edge, Right: Intersection with line |

With 2-D GE Inserts the intersecting points with a 2-D graphical element as new division points. |
The composite edge shown below is to be cut at the highlighted (pink) cuboid edge. As can be seen in the top view (left), c-edge and cuboid do not intersect. The Section, Global functions would not result in any intersection points here.
Sketch > Process > Trim... > Others > Section, Default setting
This function allows you to define how the Section, Global and Section, In screen plane functions work. When you call this function, the C-edge intersection dialogue window will be displayed.
|
Display only intersection points |
|
Divide c-edge |
|
Do not divide 2nd c-edge (Default) |
|
Divide 2nd c-edge |
|

These settings will apply to the Section, Global and Section, in screen plane functions. Each of the selected settings is identified by a coloured symbol.
Furthermore, you can do the following for the Execute function:
The default setting is Section, Global, With infinite line.
|
Apply the current settings. These settings will apply when you next call the Section, Global or the Section, In screen plane functions. |
|
Cancel the function without changing the default settings. |
|
Execute action, i.e. transfer the current settings and directly call the 3-D, Section or Section, in screen plane functions. |
The settings selected here only apply to the current HiCAD session.
To change the settings permanently, you must adjust the file KZUGPRE.DAT
in the HiCAD SYS directory accordingly.
