C-Edge: Change Points (3-D)

 Sketch > Process > Trim... > C-edge > Points, Change

This function enables you to change composite edges by inserting, moving or deleting points.

Divide c-edge, via point

Divides edges by inserting additional points.

If you have identified the first edge of a composite edge, you can select whether you want the point to be inserted as a new start point or the edge to be divided by the new point. The same applies to the last edge.

C-edge, multiple points

Inserts null edges at the end of a sub-edge of the composite edge.

This changes the total number of points and edges of a composite edge, but the geometry is preserved.

This function is useful, for example, if you want to create freeform surfaces by connecting two composite edges with different numbers of edges. In this case, you can already define the null edge here.

Move point

Moves points of a composite edge (exception: points of a circle or arc element).
You have the following options:

  • Use point option I (Snap Point) to identify the start or end point of an edge, and then define the new position of this point. You can then move further points by the same amount.
  • Identify an edge in order to move the nearest end point on the edge, i.e. the edge is shortened or lengthened. After identifying the edge, specify the end point. You can then identify further edges which you want to be shortened / lengthened by the same amount.

Instead of specifying the end point, you can also press END (right mouse button) and enter the new length of the edge.

Merge c-edges

Deletes individual points of a composite edge.

Select the points to be deleted by identifying the corresponding edges near the point in question. Choose ESC (middle mouse button) to end the selection of points. The edges are re-connected via the corresponding adjacent points.
