Parallel Polylines and Edges (3-D)

Sketch > Derive > Parallel

Use these functions to insert graphical element into the active sketch or 3-D sketch.

Clicking the symbol activates the Parallel polyline function. Clicking below the icon opens a pull-down menu with further functions.

Parallel polyline
In contrast to the two other functions, you can create both individual parallel elements and parallel composite edges here.

Identify the polyline (1) and enter the distance of the parallel polyline. The cursor position during identification determines the side on which the parallel polyline (2) is created.

Please note:

  • If the polyline contains circles or arcs, the distance must not exceed the smallest radius if you want the radius to be reduced.
  • If HiCAD interprets an actually closed polyline as "not closed", we recommend that you use the Sort GE function first.
  • If the polyline contains ellipses or splines, the original and the parallel polylines are approximated. The original remains approximated even after execution of the function. Create a copy of the polyline, if applicable, before using the function.

Parallel, distance via value
The distance of the parallels from the original is defined by entering a value. Identify the required edge (1) and enter the distance of the parallels (2) from the original. The parallel will be created on the side where you identify the graphical element.

Parallel, distance via point
Use this function to define the distance of the parallels (3) by means of a point specification instead of a value entry. Identify the required graphical element (1) and specify the distance point (2).
