Settings for Referencing (3-D)

There are two options for setting various parameters for external referencing:

Change Basic Settings

> Settings > Basic Setting > General > Referenced parts

You can change the most important parameters for referencing in the Extras menu by selecting the Settings entry:

ALGPAR.DAT/ALG3PARDAT

Description

Default

Defines the update mode for externally referenced parts.

Read + save

Specifies the folder in which referenced parts are stored.

L

If you insert, into the active drawing, a dimensioned, referenced part which already exists in the drawing, but has been differently dimensioned there, the procedure is as follows: The new part is inserted with its dimensioning saved in the referencing file, regardless of the dimensioning of the identically named part that exists in the drawing. If the switch is set to Retain, the dimensioning of the parts is not changed even when identical parts are updated.

Retain (1)

Referenced 3-D parts can be saved with or without dimensioning.

Without dimensioning (1)

Referenced parts and all identical parts are automatically updated whenever there is a change to the drawing. You can enter 0 to switch off the automatic update.

Yes (1)

This value determines how you want item numbers and part attributes to be adjusted in the case of referenced parts. It is taken into account in the Referencing - Update Identical Parts function.

If a drawing contains a referenced part with a document master which is not found in the database, e.g. if being processed by suppliers, the corresponding setting in the system file ALG3PAR.DAT determines whether the part is blocked or released.

See Basic Settings

0

Referenced parts are blocked by default to other users during processing. If you do not want this to happen, set the value to 0 or 2.

1

If you want corresponding sectional views to be automatically updated during loading, set the value to 1.

0

Referenced parts that do not exist as a file can be blocked against processing in the drawing.

0

When working with referenced 3-D parts, you can suppress the selection dialogue when loading, saving and deleting referenced parts.

If the setting in question is set to 0, this selection dialogue is suppressed, i.e. updating is carried out automatically and without a confirmation prompt. This also applies if referenced parts are not found. If the Delete setting is set to 0, parts that are not found are automatically removed from the drawing.
